Seaside Trip

On Friday 6th June Year 2 went on a trip to St. Mary's Lighthouse on the Tynemouth coast. This trip was arranged to compliment their geography topic on the features of coastal areas, their history study of Grace Darling and also their science work on habitats.
On arrival the children worked in groups to make sand sculptures whilst they waited for the tide to go out on the causeway.
After a picnic lunch they climbed up the many winding stairs to get to the top of the lighthouse and everyone agreed that the view was well worth the effort!
After that the children went rock-pooling whilst the tide was out and found many different sea creatures which they released back into the sea after studying and photographing them.
The sun shone all day and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
